Days 27-36 (Jan.27-Feb.5, 2012), Part Two: More pics I’ve shot in those days. As you noticed, I’m quite the insane nut in making each image unique. Crazy weather, bomb-ass food, and just being out there looking for inspiration are what made this hobby fun. BTW, I admit I’m a huge fan of using bento. For the benefit of the uninformed and probably asking WTF is bento, it’s basically a compact lunchbox that’s invented and heavily used by the Japanese. Think about it. The Japanese commute heavily and space is at a premium. Food in Japan, from what I’m told, ain’t cheap, which is why Japanese commuters bring their food to work. So there you have it: the bento was made to address the need to carry food in the most compact way possible.
What you see here is a Zojirushi bento jar. I think I bought that a couple of years ago from a Lotte Korean store. It had no ticket but I wagered that thing was like $60 and up. After some bargaining, I managed to buy it for $40. I use it for bringing grub at work as well as when I’m traveling because experience has taught me that some people in hostels are terrible at washing dishes for other guests to use. It’s better to bring your own dishes and utensils. Anyway, if you want to find it in amazon.com, just search for “bento jar” and you’ll find it there.
Another thing I’d tell you is that Chipotle ain’t the only one that makes killer burritos. Check out California Tortilla. I was there on Sunday (Feb.5) and had to try their concept of putting a spicy chicken soup on a fried tortilla shell. Turns out it was damned good. Try this one or chili. They also serve a mean taco salad which I’ll have to try the next time I’m there.
Days 27-36 (Jan.27-Feb.5, 2012), Part One: I’m baaaAaaccccck! Sorry I’ve not posted in a while, folks! I’ve been busy with work and been trying to find some inspiration. So here’s some images I’ve shot that I did, which isn’t much on each of those days, but it’s an amalgam of what I could scrounge up. Hope you like it!
Day 14 (Jan.14, 2012): Since I left work early (I merely did paperwork only to catch up with things), I decided to hit this Thai restaurant called Star Thai. Nice place, excellent service, and damned good food for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, I couldn’t shoot with my DSLR cause’ it might raise some eyebrows at what the hell I’m doing. Hmmm…I should’ve brought my one of my smaller point and shoots with me on that day. Oh, well.
I shot this with my crap-phone and did a little tweaking. Next time though, I’m bringing one of my cameras. Here’s what I had that day: Singha Thai lager, chicken tom yum, and chicken pad seew (extra spicy!).
Day 9 (Jan.9, 2012) The vintage and B+W-style pics were shot outside a Starbucks while having breakfast. (PS: YES..you did see snow and yes, I was eating outside while it was cold!) The later 2 images were shot at home, proudly showing my mad cooking skills. =D
Here’s some pics I shot on Days 4 and 5 (Jan. 4 & 5, 2012). Random pics galore although I do admit I like shooting pics of food in the hopes of torturing someone and entice them to eat something. Will this save world hunger? I’ve no bloody idea but if a picture is worth more than a thousand words, then I guess a picture is more than enough to make someone raid the fridge. Hunger problem solved!
